Margaret Clary Johnson, 91, went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2014. Margaret was the daughter of the late John Ellison Clary and Lilly Keenan Clary. She was born on April 15, 1923 in Gaffney, SC.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Wilson Johnson, Sr., her son, Raymond Wilson "Binky" Johnson, Jr., and her daughter, Christina "Tina" Johnson Evans. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Harold Clary, John Raymond Clary, Ray Clary, and Elizabeth C. Cuomo; also, half-brothers and sisters, Alvin Clary, Troy Clary, Niles Clary, Albert Clary and Verna C. Blanton.
Margaret was the loving grandmother to Robert Holden Evans and Ryan Wilson Evans and a great-granddaughter, Scarlett Evans, and great-grandson, River Evans, who brought great joy to her life. She is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a former resident of Riverland Terrace on James Island. She was employed for many years by the Charleston County Schools. She was a member and past president of the James Island Garden Club and had served as a deacon at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church in Charleston. She was a member of the Dr. Daniel Adams Sunday School Class. She has resided the last few years at the Village at Summerville Presbyterian Home of South Carolina.
Margaret glorified God with her life that she truly lived for others. She was the sort of person others looked at and could say, "What a great God, God must be to have thought up such a great lady as Margaret."
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
