Margaret (Margo) Wilson Hammond, 80 of Franke at Seaside, Mt. Pleasant, widow (wife) of Orrin B. (Buzz) Hammond, died April 11th in Mt. Pleasant, SC. She had been fighting a viral-induced heart condition since 1999.
Mrs. Hammond was born in Oak Park, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Margaret Farr Wilson and John Taylor Wilson of Lake Forest, Illinois. She was a graduate of Lake Forest High School and attended Wellesley College. Mrs. Hammond was a professional artist and marketed her original limited edition prints and note papers through hundreds of East Coast gift shops. She was the recipient of numerous awards for her original artwork. She had been owner of her own business, Hammond Studios, since 1979. Margo was a member of The Charleston Music Study Club, sang at Franke choir, supporter of CSO, a lifelong music lover, and a member of various singing groups, the Hobcaw Yacht Club was an avid reader and swimmer.
Surviving are her sister, Barbara Marshall of Lake Forest, Ill; her son, Scott Loring Hammond of Clayton, NC; two daughters, Susan Hammond Unger and husband Ed of Alpharetta Ga., Stacy Taylor Hammond, and deceased fiancé Michael Hallman of Mt. Pleasant SC; five grandchildren, James David Hargather and wife Molly Katherine, of Atlanta GA., Kelly Ann Hayes and husband JP of Atlanta, GA. Matthew Loring Hammond and wife Ashley of Holly Springs NC, Jamie Childress and fiancée Aaron Tove-White of Holly Springs NC and Tyler Childress of Johnston City, TN. In addition Mrs. Hammond had two great grand children Hammond James and Delle Louise Hargather of Atlanta, Ga.
