Marcia Almand Williams, 74, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Charles Ray Williams, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. A Celebration of Marcia's life will be held Monday, May 19, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, at 1:00 pm. Inurnment to follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Marcia was born April 26, 1940 in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of Howard Warren Almand and Hazel Tripp Almand. She moved with her family to Charleston, SC at the age of 6 months and later graduated there from Murray Vocational High School. She retired after 13 years as a Gift Shop Manager and previous employments as a bookkeeper and an administrative assistant with companies in Charleston, the Atlanta area, and New Jersey.
Marcia attended Seacoast Church and had been active as a volunteer at its West Ashley Campus. Her personal mission was collecting clothing and other items for those in need.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles Ray Williams of Charleston, SC; daughter, Holly W. Hammond (Daniel) of Suwanee, GA; son, Todd M. Williams (Michele) of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Howard Warren Almand, Jr (Lydia) of Mariana, FL, and Walter L. Almand of Mariana, FL; four grandchildren, Taylor Hammond, Abbey Hammond, Bryan Owen (Melinda), and Shawn Owen (Christie).
