Marcia Joyce Rhodes

Marcia Joyce Rhodes, 83, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of Samuel W. Rhodes, Sr. "Papa Sam," died Friday, October 7, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joyce was born August 22, 1933 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, daughter of the late Fred A. Carter and the late Rosa Louvain Cox Carter. She was in control of Sullivan's Restaurant for 29 years.

She is survived by her children, Donna R. Hiott (Richard), of Summerville, SC and Samuel "Sammy" W. Rhodes, Jr. (Tracy Bozzelli) of Sullivan's Island, SC; two grandchildren, Scotty Gould (Josephine), and Jadon Hiott (Esther); and her sister, Rosa Carolyn Metz of Spartanburg, SC.She was preceded in death by her brother, Fred A. Carter, Jr.
