Marcenna Marzluff, of James Island, died on Nov.22,2025 after a long and debilitating illness. She is survived by her husband, J. Michael Marzluff and four children. Julia Levine (David) of Brooklyn, N.Y., Elise Earhart (Marshall) of Asheville, N.C., James Marzluff (Claudia) of Scottsville, VA., Amy Marzluff of Charleston, S.C.; a brother, Russel G. Edgar, Jr of Pensacola,FL; and a sister Marianne Ferencek of Tallahassee FL. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Mia Halsey, Livy Anschel, Quinn Anschel, and Luca Marzluff.
Marcie was born in Hazelhurst, GA, the oldest child of Russell and Anna Edgar. As an Air Force brat, she lived in many cities across the United States as well as Japan. It was during duty in Charleston that she met her future husband Mike. She supported him through medical school, internship, and residency, all while raising their first two children. After residency, they moved to Portsmouth, VA for five years of duty in the Navy. During that time, Marcie, in addition to bring a full time mother, returned to school and earned a degree in art history at Old Dominion University. She graduated magna cum laude with membership in two national honor societies. In 1984 Mike completed his Navy obligation and the family returned to Charleston for private practice. Two more children were born and Marcie was busy raising newborns as well as teens. As the children aged and required less attention, Marcie embarked on a new career. She bought and developed a small strip center on James Island and opened the Terrace Theatre. This development was the impetus of the renaissance of Riverland Terrace.
Marcie was rightfully proud of this accomplishment, but she considered her children as the most important accomplishment of her life.
