Mrs. Malphrus graduated from Memminger High School in 1939. She worked at the American Cigar Factory for 10 years. Often referred to as Ms. Malphie. She retired from the day care to take care of her very special joy, her one and only grandson, Austin Bryson. This was indeed the greatest pleasure of her life. Mrs. Malphrus was always so full of love for her family and her church. Granny as she loved to be called, was an avid Braves fan and especially fond of "Chipper" Jones.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harry Mendel "Julio" Malphrus and 6 siblings.
Surviving are one son, James Howell Malphrus and his wife, Carolyn of Reevesville, SC; one daughter, whom she lived with, Sandra M. Bryson and her husband, Robbie of Johns Island, SC; one grandson, Robert Austin Bryson and her special friend, "Dottie", her Jack Russell dog.
A special thanks to her medical team at MUSC, Sandpiper Rehabilitation Center of Mt. Pleasant and to Hospice of Charleston.
