Manubhai C. Patel, 67, of Abingdon, Virginia, Widower of Saroj Patel passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, SC, at 2:00 p.m.
Manubhai was born March 5, 1947, in the village of Vaghasi in Gujarat, India, son of the late Chaturbhai Patel and Maniben Patel. Manubhai married Sarojben in 1968 in India. He came to the United States in 1969 as a college graduate and moved to San Francisco. Manubhai made many sacrifices and worked tirelessly, holding three jobs at one time, all while earning his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, in order to achieve his goals. With his strong work ethic and charismatic personality, he was able to at become a successful entrepreneur as a hotel owner and developer.
Manubhai had a passion for his work, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and for listening to music from his favorite films. He was a person who made his and many others' dreams come true. Manubhai was always surrounded by friends and family, which was when he was at his happiest.
It is rare that one person deeply influences the lives of so many people. Manubhai is the very reason that many people are living happy, prosperous lives, here in the U.S., along with their families. He gave people the opportunity to live in the U.S.; he gave people jobs and salaries, and even gave people a place to live in his own home. He was a loving, dutiful, generous, and a genuinely good person.
Manubhai is survived and mourned by his son, Milan Patel, MD (spouse Rachel Bloom, MD) of New York, NY; daughter, Rupal Patel (spouse Wil Marshall) of Waxhaw, NC, and grandson, Rahm Patel.
