The family of Dr. Malik Ahmad Khan will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL located at 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC following a private burial service in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
Dr. Khan died peacefully, Saturday, October 30, 2010. Born in Sargodah, Pakistan on June 1, 1945, he was the son of the late Malik Guhlam Mohammed and Begum Naseem Khan. He was educated under the British education system at Government College Lahore and King Edward Medical College, both in Lahore, Pakistan. Dr. Khan moved to the U.S. in 1971 and lived in New Jersey from 1971 through 2006. While in New Jersey, Dr. Khan was a talented and distinguished vascular surgeon who served Middlesex and Monmouth Counties for 30 years. Dr. Khan primarily served the patients of Raritan Bay Medical Center, JFK Memorial Hospital, South Amboy Hospital and Bayshore Hospital throughout his career. Dr. Khan was admitted as a Fellow to the American College of Surgeons in recognition of his abilities and talents. Following retirement, Dr. Khan moved to Mount Pleasant, SC in 2006 to be close to his children. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. During his time in SC, he especially enjoyed boating on the Intracoastal Waterway. He was happiest surrounded by his beloved children and granddaughter.
Surviving are his daughter, Sarah N. Khan; his son, Jamie A. Khan; his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Barnett Khan; and his granddaughter, Katherine Banks Khan all of Mount Pleasant, SC. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers still residing in Pakistan and New York, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Beacon Hospice Memorial Fund in Dr. Khan's name, 1224 Village Creek Lane, Suite A3, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
