Malcolm Bruce Swan, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, husband of Barbara Jean Land Swan died Monday, May 30, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 6, 2016 in the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 302 Hibben Street at 12:00 pm. Inurnment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens with Military Honors and Masonic Rites, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road. The family will receive friends Monday, June 6, 2016 in Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church from 11:00 am until time of the service.Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

Malcolm was born June 19, 1927 in Gary, Indiana, son of the late Corwin Swan and the late Edna Whybrew Swan. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1944-1946 as a Corporal in the Medics. He graduated from Purdue University in 1951 with a B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Malcolm then served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1953 as a 1st Lieutenant in the Strategic Air Command. He met and married Barbara Jean Land on June 16, 1951. He worked as a Superintendent of Stainless Steel at Gary's Sheet and Tin Mill. Malcolm was a Life Member and Past Master of Etiwan Masonic Lodge, AFM, Mount Pleasant, SC, Life Member Scottish Rites, Valley of South Bend, Indiana, Life Member Orak Shrine Temple, Michigan City, Indiana, Member of Omar Shrine Temple, Mount Pleasant, SC, Life Member and Past President of Charleston Scottish Society, and Life Member American Legion Post 136, Mount Pleasant, SC. One of his greatest joys was sailing, he was Past Commodore Charleston Yacht Club, Past Commodore Charleston Ocean Racing Association, and Past Commodore Charleston Cruising Club. He was also an Amateur Radio Operator AB4PW and a Life Member of the American Radio Relay League. Malcolm was a Deacon, Elder and Clerk of the Session and taught Adult Sunday School class as a member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Barbara J. Swan of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sons, Duncan Neal Swan of Alameda, CA, and Brian Alan Swan (Lyn) of Charleston, SC; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Lyon (Jeffrey) of Hyannisport, MA; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two nephews, Bruce McAdams (Edna) and Douglas McAdams (Allison); and a niece, Leigh McAdams (Scott). He was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta McAdams and beloved dog, "Baby Girl Belle".
