Major Jerry Mare Blanton, USMC (Ret.)

Major Jerry Mare Blanton, USMC, (Ret.), 85, of Aiken, South Carolina, husband of the late Betty Pearce Blanton, entered into eternal rest Monday July 25, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 29, 2016, at the graveside in Greenwood Cemetery, 1603 Greenwood Street, Orlando FL at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.

Jerry was born January 29, 1931 in Orlando, Florida, son of the late F.L. Blanton and Mattie Smith Blanton. He retired after 30 years of service as a Major with the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Mar Blanton, Jr, of Aiken, SC; two daughters, Elizabeth Russell of Ravenel, SC, and Teresa Scott of Gainesville, FL; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
