Mai Church McCrory, 94, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Her life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, located at 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, beginning at 11:00 am. The family invites friends to join them an hour prior to the service at the Chapel to honor her memory.
Born on November 5, 1930, in Thompson Station, Tennessee, Mai was the beloved daughter of the late Elmer Richie Church and the late Beulah May Stinson Church. Throughout her life, she embraced her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mai is survived by her cherished daughter, Glenda McCrory Vickers (Jim), who resides in Mount Pleasant, SC. She also leaves behind two granddaughters, Jessica Foxworth (Charles) and Kellsey Vogel (Jake), whose lives she touched with her unwavering love and support.
Mai was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn McCrory, and her son, John G. McCrory, Jr., for whom she selflessly served as the primary caregiver in the years prior to their passing. Their memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
As we reflect on her remarkable life, we remember Mai as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, whose kindness and generosity will forever be cherished. Outgoing and kind, Mai is remembered as the friendly face many residents of the Palms knew as the first person to greet them. She was a dedicated member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ and loved to attend services. She enjoyed games of all kinds and was the host of two weekly card groups (and denied any ounce of competitiveness!). She was smart, detail-oriented, and innovative. She had a creative mind that enthusiastically tackled mastering new technology; from setting her VCR to navigating her smartphone, she was not intimidated by the challenges of the digital age and embraced them. Throughout her life she enjoyed homemaking, square dancing, sharing coffee with her neighbors, College of Charleston basketball, current events, and showing pictures of her four great-granddaughters to all of her friends. Most importantly, Mai is remembered as a woman of faith whose hope in the gospel of Christ was the rock of her life. Her family's faith was shaped by her example.
Memorials in her honor may be made to the Children's Tumor Foundation or the Mt Pleasant Church of Christ, both of which are organizations that were very dear to Mai's heart.
