Maffett Warren Dowd

Maffett Warren Dowd, 60, died June 14, 2022 after a long battle with cardiac disease.  

Maffett was born in Newberry, SC May 28, 1962 the first son of the Reverend H. Wyman Dowd and Edna Earle Fant Dowd. He was baptized in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Prosperity, SC, confirmed into the Lutheran Church by his father and later into the Anglican Communion. Maffett graduated from Middleton High School in 1980 and attended Newberry College where he majored in Vocal Performance and Sacred Music. His talents as a sacred musician were well-known in throughout the Lowcountry. Maffett proudly served as a paramedic in several different communities from 1984-2014 and continued his work in the health care field until 2020. 
He is predeceased by his parents and his younger sister, Louisa (Kevin) Smith. He leaves behind his brother, William of Charleston, nephew Nicholas and niece Cameron Smith of Greenville, NC. 

The funeral service will be held Friday, June 17, 2022 in St. Philip’s Anglican Church, at 10:00 am. Graveside interment will be in a family plot at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, Little Mountain, SC. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the organ fund at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 816 Mt. Tabor Rd, Little Mountain, SC 29075.
