Mae Bazzle Saulisbury entered into eternal rest on July 24, 2026. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026 at the First Baptist Church of Charleston, 48 Meeting Street at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Glenview Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to her service, starting at 10:00 am in the church sanctuary. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel.

She was born on October 28, 1928, in Walterboro, South Carolina (Colleton County), the fifth of seven children to the late Lula Mae Craven Bazzle and Andrew John Bazzle. Growing up on the family farm, Mae learned the value of hard work and the importance of family at an early age. Her days often involved working in the fields and milking cows before and after school. She was raised in a home filled with love and a strong work ethic. After completing her early education, she attended Columbia College, where she earned a business degree. She went on to marry the love of her life, Lyles Saulisbury, with whom she built their family business, Saulisbury Business Machines, in 1968.

To know Mae was to know the joy of her radiant smile and infectious laugh. She was a natural caregiver, always looking out for those around her. Above all else, she was a strong believer in Christ. She devoted her life to serving God and her beloved church family at First Baptist Church of Charleston. Over the years, her servant's heart touched countless lives whether she was rocking babies in the nursery, leading Bible studies, singing in the senior choir, or faithfully counting the monthly offerings. She never hesitated to share her faith boldly and lovingly with everyone she met.

Mae was also known for her extraordinary talents in the kitchen. She loved to bake and cook, and her meals were a source of comfort to all who had the privilege of pulling up a chair to her table. She remained vibrant and active throughout her entire life, guided always by her beautiful personal motto: "There is nothing better in this life than to love and to be loved."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyles Saulisbury; her brothers, J.C. Bazzle, and Hanley Bazzle; and her sisters, Alice Colson, Ruby Cox, and Estelle Craven.

She is survived by her son, Dale Saulisbury, and his wife, Pamela Saulisbury; her two grandchildren, Chase Saulisbury and his wife, Erin Saulisbury, and Edward Saulisbury; her sister and best friend, Mrs. Myrtle Smith; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
