Madison Marion Holliday, 97, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Frances A. Holliday entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 25, 2026. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Northwoods Chapel 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, March 2,2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel.
Madison was born September 4, 1928, in Manning, South Carolina, son of Norris Marion Holliday and Lovie Lowder Holliday. He was a graduate from Electric Shop Murray Vocational School. He graduated in 1947.On Nov. 1, 1948, he went to work for Southern Bell as a lineman. He later worked as a switching equipment Technician on No 5-x bar equipment that handled all the Navy yard calls. Madison retired in November of 1981 with 33 years. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers Fort Sumter Council life member volunteer of the year 1993 and 1994, Fort Sumter council treasurer for 8 years from 1986 to 1993. Madison served his country in the US Army from 1950 to 1952, after basic training he was assigned to the 43rd Division Headquarters Signal Co. as a chief operator in Augsburg Germany. He went on the 2014 honor flight from the Lowcountry to Washington D.C.
Madison was an active member of the Friendship Baptist church located in North Charleston, SC. He was a secretary for the Sunday School with his church for 40 years.
