Mack Daniel Lassiter, 84, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Estelle Ohlandt Johnson Lassiter entered into eternal rest Monday, March 21, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 in Bethel United Methodist Church, 57 Pitt Street at 1:00 p.m. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Mack was born October 8, 1931 in Charlotte, North Carolina, son of the late John Gary Lassiter and the late Jennette McDaniel Lassiter. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and he earned his Associate's Degree from Brevard College. He was very involved in the Rotary Club of Charleston. After 40 years of developing adult leadership for Scouting Troops, Mack retired as the Scout Executive with Coastal Carolina Council Boy Scouts of America. His career included service in five scouting councils in the Carolina's, Georgia, and Florida. He was very diligent in raising money for Camp Ho Non Wah and was instrumental in moving the scouting headquarters to its present location on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard. Mack was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, active in several different committees, especially in the Col. Lewis Sunday School Class where he taught for many years. He enjoyed many years of playing golf, reading, and walking.
In addition to his wife, Estelle, he is survived by his daughter, Louanne Lassiter of Mount Pleasant, SC; son, Lt. Col. Gary Mack Lassiter (U.S. Air Force, Ret.) and his wife, Karen of Mt. Pleasant, SC; brother, Jon Lassiter and his wife, Barbara of Wilmington, DE; and four grandchildren: Jessica Anne Lassiter, Mary Catherine Lassiter, Joseph Daniel Lassiter, and Matthew Gary Lassiter.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Annette Karriker Lassiter.
