Mack "Woodie" Heyward Allen II

Mack "Woodie" Heyward Allen II, 56, of McClellanville, South Carolina, life partner of Merrie Lyn Scott entered into eternal rest Friday, May 13, 2022. His family will hold a private ceremony at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Woodie was born May 25, 1965, in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Mack Haywood Allen and Carole Jackson Allen. He loved the Lowcountry, always in the outdoors. He grew up shrimping, worked in commercial fishing and ran his own yard maintenance business. He will be remembered fondly as the Village man, laid back, quiet and kindhearted. Those who loved him called him a gentle giant and one of the good guys. Woodie was known for his kindness, his helpful spirit and being a friend to all. 

He is survived by his life partner, Lyn Scott of Jamestown, SC; mom, Carole Allen; siblings, Joanne Jackson, and Gilbert Allen (Kathy) all of McClellanville; children, Matthew Dilon Allen (Breanna Mills) of Shulerville, SC and, Kara Lyn Bury (William) of Tomah, WI; numerous grandchildren; three nephews, Wayne Jackson, Cody Allen, and Cade Allen; one niece, Claire Allen; Julie Benke Bennett, Woodie and Lyn's longtime family friend; and Gator, Woodie's beloved dog.

He is preceded in death by his father, Mack Haywood Allen.
