Lynn Hammond Smith

Lynn Hammond "Smitty" Smith of James Island, South Carolina, husband of Marjorie McCumber Smith, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, March 26, 2014. His Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 28, 2014 in Victory Baptist Church, 335 Woodland Shores Road, at 2:00 pm.. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 1:00 pm until time of service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.

Smitty was born April 13, 1919 in Furman, South Carolina, son of the late George W. Smith and Eva Youmans Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in Korea. Lynn was a retired electrical engineer with Piggly Wiggly and owner of Smitty's Appliance Service. He was the first electrician to receive his electrical permit from Charleston County. Lynn was a charter member of Victory Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Marjorie Smith, of 56 years of James Island, SC; he is survived by a son, Frank Smith (Elaine) of Nashville, TN; two daughters, Tammy Hamilton (Donnie) of Summerville, SC and Allison Johnson (Tony) of Aynor, SC; six grandchildren, Cindy Gilchrist, Stephen Hamilton, Jonathan Hamilton, Jessica Chambers, T. J. Johnson and Kendyl Johnson; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 335 Woodland Shores Road, Charleston SC 29412.
