Lynn Avant Golden

Lynn Avant Golden, 57, of Meggett, SC, husband of Barbara Barnes Golden entered into eternal rest Thursday, August 7, 2014. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Saturday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, August 10, 2014 in Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 5412 Highway 165 at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow in Christ-St. Paul's Parish Church Cemetery, 5034 Chapel Road, Yonges Island.

Lynn was born December 5, 1956 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Neal Golden, Sr and Jessie Avant Golden. He was a retired Measurement Journeyman with the Gas Department of SCE&G. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, President of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Men's Club and leader of the Church Youth Group and a past member of St. Paul's Exchange Club. Lynn was one of the nine members on the Kairos Ridgeland Correctional Institution (RCI) Advisory Council. He had served on the teams for all eight Ridgeland Kairos inside weekends over the past four years and had personally impacted the lives of many of the prisoners. He loved the Kairos Ministry deeply and was greatly loved by many of the inmates. Lynn was an outdoors man who loved to create yard art in his workshop and fishing and casting for shrimp off his dock.

Lynn loved to spend time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Barbara Golden of Meggett, SC; daughter, Lyndsay Underwood (Blake) of Fort Bragg, NC; two sons, Grayson Lynn Golden and William Avant Golden both of Meggett, SC; two brothers, Neal Golden, Jr, (Addie) and Charles Andrew Golden (Shirley) all of Meggett, SC; two sisters, Millicent Garvin (Bobby) of Summerville, SC and Emily Vaughan (Neil) of Charleston, SC; one granddaughter, Lillian Avant Underwood of Fort Bragg, NC; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
