Lyndal Carlene Ragon

Lyndal Carlene Ragon, 90, of Charleston, SC, widow of George Thomas Ragon died Thursday, March 12, 2015. Her Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 in James Island Presbyterian Church, 1632 Fort Johnson Road, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held Monday, March 23, 2015 in Beaufort National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., 232 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC.

Lyndal was born August 31, 1924 in Middleton, Tennessee, daughter of the late Carl Jones and the late Ida Jones. She graduated from Baptist Memorial Hospital Nursing School with a Nursing Degree. Lyndal served as 1st Lieutenant with the US Army and US Air Force Nursing Corps in Japan during the Korean Conflict. She was a volunteer for American Red Cross, Girl Scouts of America, Boy Scouts of America, Navy Relief Society, Charleston Meals on Wheels, The Altar Guild and Crisis Ministries. She was a member of The James Island Presbyterian Church Book Club, Ladies Circle, Ft. Johnson Garden Club, Navy Officers Wives Club, and The Yorktown, Virginia Historical Society.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia R. Todd of Roswell, GA; two sons, Robert C. Ragon (Claire LaVelle) of Salisbury, NC, and Thomas M. Ragon of Charleston, SC; sister, Martha Ellen Jones Vincent of Memphis TN; sister-in-law Dorothy Shearon of Memphis, TN; eight grandchildren, Michael Ragon, Erin Martyn (Dan), Christopher Ragon (Brittany), Sophie Ragon, Tommy Ragon, Gregory Bunn, Justin Ragon, and Shane Ragon, and two great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Millie Martyn.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to James Island Presbyterian Church, 1632 Fort Johnson Road, James Island, SC 29412 or National Museum of the US Army, 2425 Wilson Boulevard Arlington, VA 22201.
