Lynda McDonald Rock
Lynda McDonald Rock, 54, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away with family and friends by her side Sunday, October 6, 2013. Her Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 11, 2013, at the Charleston Maritime Center, 10 Wharfside Street, Charleston, at 6:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Lynda was born February 2, 1959, in Chicago, IL, a daughter of Professor Thomas F. McDonald and Ingrid Dapkus McDonald. She was an Occupational Therapist with Pharmaceutical Health Care. Lynda was a world-class champion in the sport of dragonboating, bringing home three silver and two bronze medals for the United States in the 2009 World Dragon Boat Championship in Prague.
Lynda led a full life, celebrating each day as a daughter, sibling, friend and most importantly a mother. She is survived by her parents, Professor Thomas F. and Ingrid D. McDonald of Charleston, SC, son, Graeme Rock of Charleston, SC, three sisters, Lyla M. Leigh (Tracy) of Washington, DC, Laura M. McDonald (Joe Jackson) of Washington, DC and Lenore M. McDonald of East Dundee, IL; two brothers, Austin F. McDonald (William Graham) of Washington, DC and Thomas F. McDonald (Sandra) of Savannah, GA and a nephew, Thomas F. McDonald, III, and two aunts, Dr. Zita Dabars of Baltimore, MD and Gwen McDonald of Pico Rivera, CA and companion John Radel.
