It is with great sadness that the family of Lyle James (Jimmy) Hilts, age 65, of Summerville SC, announce his passing on July 17, 2018. He was born January 7, 1953, in North Kingstown Rhode Island. The son of Sydell Hilts and Lyle James Hilts.

Jimmy will be remembered for many things: stepping in the parental role for his 9 brothers and sisters when his father wasn't able to, living life to the fullest and never seeing lemons but the lemonade. Spending relaxing days fishing and talking about the big one that got away. Jimmy was driven by dreams and making them come true.

For over five years Jimmy volunteered as an EMT with Surfside Beach Rescue Squad and was honored as a lifetime member. His service to his community continued as an EMT with Horry County EMS and in 1997 was awarded South Carolina EMT of the year.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Sydell Hilts; and his brother Norman.

A Celebration of Life for Jimmy is being held at the family's residence on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Jimmy will be lovingly remembered by his son: Zachary Hilts; four sisters and one brother: Robin Hilts, Denise Wood, Katherine Hanna, Wendy Hilts-Deas of Summerville, SC; Todd Hilts of Lake City, SC.
