Lydia McLean Wiggins MacLaughlin, 99, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, widow of Don Taylor MacLaughlin, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 16, 2014. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Lydia was born July 26, 1914 in Pickens, SC, daughter of Lemuel E. Wiggins and Sally McLean Wiggins. During WWII, she worked at the Bureau of Standards in Washington, DC. After she married, she taught math at Mt. Berry College in Rome, GA and later retired from the Central Piedmont Community College Mathematics Department in Charlotte, NC.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally M. Olivier of Charleston, SC; son, R. Scott MacLaughlin (Linda) of Shippensburg, PA; sister, Elizabeth Wiggins McDonald of Hickory, NC; granddaughters, Gloria Olivier and Andrea Olivier; and great-grandchildren, Rickie, Alex and Camryn.
Lydia McLean Wiggins MacLaughlin's Memorial Celebration will be held Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 3:30 in the afternoon at the Memorial Chapel, Lake Junaluska, NC.
