Lydia Celeste Haselden Fogle, 96, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Chaplain Israel S. Fogle, Jr. entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 3, 2016. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1691 Shulerville Rd., Shulerville, SC 29453. The family will receive friends Friday at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Lydia was born March 8, 1920 in Shulerville, SC, daughter of the late James Cleavie Haselden and Lessie Lewis Haselden. Lydia, worked at the Automatic Grocery Store on Broad St. for many years and was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and grand-mother. She managed the books for her husband's many businesses including Fogle's Electric Service, L & F Auto Sales and Fogle's Towing Service.
She cared for many children, family, friends and always had an open door for all. Lydia, enjoyed sewing and hand stitched clothing for her children. She also loved to cook and serve all who came through her door. Lydia was active in the Church from her youth throughout her lifetime. She attended St. Andrews Pentecostal Holiness Church in Charleston before becoming a life long member of Johns Island Pentecostal Holiness on Johns Island, SC. Lydia was musically talented and enjoyed playing her Gretsch guitar. She also played piano and sang with her sister for decades in the Church.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Chaplain Israel S. Fogle of Charleston, SC, two daughters, Lydia E. "Bootsie" Price (Chuck) of PA, Margaret Jane Whitaker (Matt) of Charleston and son, Anthony "Tony" Fogle of Charleston; two sisters, Gracie Infinger (Talmadge) of Raleigh, NC and Earline Moore Dobbs of Leesburg, MO; brother, William Haselden (Sybil) of Summerville, SC; eight grandchildren, Chuck Price (Letitia), Terry Price, Tina Price Smith (Bob), Timothy R. Craven (Kristen), Melissa Davis (Leslee), Amanda Cribb (Richard), Ashley Fogle, Addison Powers; twelve great-grandchildren, Brian Price, Dylan Price, Shaleea Shields, Shanna Remington, Emily Price, Matthew Lightbody, Morgan Lightbody, Savannah Clardy, Emma Grace Clardy, John Cribb, Madilyn Cribb, Isabella McDaniel, and two great-great grandchildren, Cora Legh Shields, Jackson Price, sisters-in-law Dora Haselden (wife of Aaron), and Joyce Haselden (wife of Lewis) and dear family friends Anna Price of Ohio, and Patricia Hess of Charleston. She is predeceased by three sisters Loka Bunch, Rosa Lewis Knight, Elise Waters, three brothers Aaron Haselden, Lewis Haselden and Leon Haselden.
Lydia's kindness, honesty, sweetness and beauty will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends.
