Lucy Verner Seabrook

Lucy Verner Seabrook passed away on February 20, 2026. She was a devoted wife, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She was born in Burlington, NC on May 13, 1939 and moved to Charleston shortly thereafter. A lifelong resident of Charleston, Lucy graduated from Ashley Hall School and was married to Edward M. Seabrook, Jr.

She was a member of St. Philip's Church, the Colonial Dames, and the Carolina Assembly. She was particularly fond of her bridge club of approximately 30 years and the many friends she met through her supper clubs.

We remember her for always talking and laughing, always cooking (the best), and being the greatest aunt, friend, and confidant one could wish for.

Lucy was a talented artist with her many water colors of the Carolina Lowcountry. She will be known for her amazing needlepoint and smocking resulting in many beautiful children's clothes, Christening gown, and stole.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Edward M. Seabrook, Jr.; her sister and husband, Neil and Louis Dawson; and her parents, David and Elizabeth Verner.

Surviving are her three nieces, Elizabeth Dawson Hassell (Fleetwood), Mary Stuart Dawson Sutton (Mike), and Virginia Dawson Lane (Charles); as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

We are grateful for the support, care, and friendship of Andrew Mack, Jerri McClellan, the staff of Bishop Gadsden and the Roper Hospice Care.

She will be forever missed and always loved.

There will be a graveside service in Magnolia Cemetery on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to St. Philip's Church or Bishop Gadsden Retirement Community.
