Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

Lucy was born September 1, 1949 in Taichung, Taiwan, daughter of the late Sun Yun-Ton and the late Sun Pan Hsiou-Ying Sun. She was known for her remarkable ability to bring even the most wilted flowers back to life, a testament to her patience, care, and deep connection to nature. Her garden was not just a hobby but a sanctuary where she found joy and solace. Friends and family often marveled at how she would carefully select flowers that others might overlook, breathing new vitality into them through her tender care. Beyond her gardening, Lucy found great pleasure in cooking for her family. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and love, where meals were prepared with thoughtfulness and a genuine desire to bring people together. Her culinary talents were appreciated by those fortunate enough to share in her home-cooked dishes. Lucy’s journey began in the heart of Taichung, where her early years sowed the seeds of her lifelong appreciation for beauty and growth. Her passing marks the loss of a gentle soul whose life was a celebration of nurturing - both flora and family. She will be remembered with respect and affection by all who knew her, for her quiet dedication and the care with which she tended to the world around her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons: John L. Rubritz (Janice) of Goose Creek, SC and James D. Rubritz (Nicole) of Goose Creek, SC; daughter, Jennifer A. Yonce (Jamie) of Summerville, SC; adopted son, Steven Sun (Alice) of Summerville, SC; eleven grandchildren, Jenna, Julia, Jillian, Graysen, Emma, Steele, Maxtin, Ethan, Madison, Aiden, and Syrius; and two sisters living in Taiwan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother.

Lucy Hsiao-Mei Rubritz leaves behind a legacy of kindness, patience, and an enduring love for the simple yet profound act of bringing life to what was once thought lost.
