Lucius Henry Weeks, Jr., 80, of Traveler's Rest, SC, formerly of Charleston, SC, husband of Carol Moody Weeks, entered into eternal rest Thursday, July 4, 2013. His graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013, in Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Charleston, SC.
Lucius was born August 17, 1932 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Lucius Henry Weeks, Sr. and Eunice Reeves Weeks. He was a graduate of St. Andrews High School, Furman University where he served as Kappa Alpha Fraternity President, LSU School of Banking, and served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Lucius was Senior Vice President of South Carolina National Bank and retired as President and CEO of Landmark First National Bank in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. His community service included Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce President, Fort Lauderdale American Heart Association President, Lifetime Furman University Advisory Board Member, and Founder of the Furman University Order of the Paladin. He was a charter member of Ashley River Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years; three sons, Daniel L. Weeks of Lake Isabella, CA, Wesley P. Weeks and wife, Michelle, of Coconut Creek, FL and Lucius H. Weeks, III of Arlington, VA; a daughter, Lucile W. Nelson and husband, John, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; five grandchildren, John and Joseph Lucius Nelson, Christopher Piric and Wesley D. Weeks, and Sarah Weeks; a sister, Gloria W. Fennell and nephew, John O. Fennell, both of Charleston, SC; and an aunt, Alma Easterling, of Charleston, SC.
