Entered into eternal rest the morning of Tuesday, November 1, 2011, Lucius E. Platt, Jr. widower of Pearl Williams Platt. Residence, Meggett, South Carolina. Funeral services for Lucius will be held at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church,5412 Highway 165, Hollywood SC., Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Christ St. Paul's Episcopal Churchyard. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 5 pm until 7 pm.
Born December 26, 1921 in Meggett, SC, Lucius was the son of the late Lucius E. Platt, Sr. and Annie Isabell Chaplin Platt. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS and obtained his Masters from Appalachian University. Mr. Platt served in the Charleston County School district at St. Johns High School, St. Andrews Junior High School, Stono Park Elementary School, and C. E. Williams Middle School respectively. Mr. Platt also served as a football coach at St. Andrews High School. He was respected and very much loved by his students and his peers. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War, II, serving in the US Coast Guard. He was a Mason and belonged to the Jacksonboro Lodge #206.
Survivors include his sons: Lucius E. Platt, III (Liza) of Charleston and Terry H. Platt (Patricia) of Meggett. He was granddaddy to 3 special grandsons: Terry H. Platt, Jr. (Lauren), Christopher William Platt (Christine) and Jonathan David Platt. Survivors also include a great granddaughter, Reagan Mackenzie Platt and a niece, Shirley Platt Murray. He was preceded in death by his brother Walter and his sister Marguerite.
