Lucia Hannaford Daniel, 94, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Monday, May 26, 2025. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025, at The Church of the Holy Communion, 218 Ashley Avenue at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service in the Parish Hall. Arrangement by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Lucia was born September 13, 1930, in Charleston, South Carolina. Daughter of Thomas V. Hannaford and Lois Johnson Hannaford. She was the youngest of four children. Mrs. Daniel was a proud Charlestonian and lived there her entire life. She married Robert A. "Bob" Daniel, February 18, 1950, and they had 72 wonderful years of marriage. Lucia graduated from St. Andrews High School, where she excelled in basketball and played on a championship team. She then attended Winthrop College. Lucia was a housewife who was devoted to her children and husband. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and cross stitch. Mrs. Daniel was a golf enthusiast and played golf up until her 90's. She was a longtime member of the Country Club of Charleston where she had been president of the Women's Golf Association. She helped lead junior girl's golf clinics at the Country Club when her daughters were young. She was very proud of her World Golf Hall of Fame daughter. Lucia was devoted to the Church of the Holy Communion and was active in the altar guild for many years. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and spent many hours volunteering at the Confederate Museum. She was a trustee of Magnolia Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Daniel (Gary ) Nimocks of Charleston, SC, Beth (Meg) Daniel of Delray Beach, FL; a son, Robert A Daniel, Jr. (Gewn) of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, Robert A Daniel, III, Jordan E. Daniel, John R. Larisey, and Daniel P. Larisey; five great-grandchildren, Harper Daniel, Kaelin Daniel, Miles Prosser, Eliza Prosser, Luke Prosser. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial may be made to the Endowment Fund of the Church of the Holy Communion, 218 Ashley Avenue, Charleston, SC 29403.
