Lucas Boinest Aimar

July 9, 1929 — March 14, 2015

Lucas Boinest Aimar, 85, of Charleston, SC, husband of Elizabeth McKnight Aimar and a retired architectural engineer with Southern Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, marched briskly into Heaven on Saturday, March 14, 2015. A celebration of Luke's life will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in Second Presbyterian Church, 342 Meeting Street at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Aimar was born July 9, 1929 to Lucas Aimar and Claudia Lee Boinest Aimar. He graduated from Charleston High School in 1945, where he played trumpet in the band. He then attended Georgia Tech and Clemson Military College, continuing to play the trumpet in both bands and graduating from Clemson in 1952. Mr. Aimar was a veteran of the Korean war and a retired Colonel of the Army Reserve, serving in many capacities, including Inspector General of the 12th Army Reserve Command. He also was a charter member of the Charleston Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute, serving as editor of the News Letter, technical director, 2nd and 1st Vice President and President. Lucas was a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church, where he served as Deacon, Elder and the Men's Sunday School teacher for many years. He could be seen every Saturday helping at the church and trying to put a smile on the faces of those he met.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Lou, two daughters, Betsy Lee Brown Maltby (Terry) of Denver , CO, and Cathy Aimar Oyer (Cal) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren, Lindsey Lee Brown Nicoletti (Phil) of Denver, CO, Jason Ryan Brown of Phoenix, AR, and Kalyn Aimar Oyer of Mt. Pleasant, SC and two great-grandsons, Anthony John Nicoletti and Maddox Ryan Brown. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lucia Boinest Aimar.
