Lt. Ernest Alvin "AL" Taylor, 69, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Karen VanVleck Taylor entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 14, 2015. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 pm where a Masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with military honors. AL was born November 3, 1946 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Ernest Isaac Taylor and Mary "Betty" Rackley Taylor.
Al was a USMC veteran of Vietnam and retired as a Deputy Sheriff with Charleston County Sheriff Department after twenty three years of service. He was a former member of Hammerton Masonic Lodge # 332 and a current member of Fidelity Lodge #304, AFM. He was a member of Charleston Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife, Karen Taylor of Charleston, SC; four children, Timothy Laine Taylor of Los Angeles, CA, Thearon Lex Taylor of North Charleston, SC, Talitha Cawley (Scott) of Charleston, SC, John Harley of AL; brother, Paul "Dee" Dewitt Taylor (Barbara) of Givhans, SC; sister, Ernestine "Tina" Taylor Richardson (Terry) of Hanahan, SC; eight grandchildren, Alexis Taylor, Lex Taylor, Jr., Seth Taylor, Christopher Harley, Tyler Harley, Jacob Harley, Ireland Cawley, Brandon Cawley; niece, Meredith Chinners, and nephew, Travis Richardson. AL was predeceased by a brother, Robert Leonard Taylor.
