Lt. Colonel Thomas Herbert Simpson, (USMC) Ret

Lt. Col. Thomas Herbert Simpson (USMC, Ret), 82, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Donna Mae Heetderks Simpson passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. His Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 23, 2014 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. Interment will be private. The family will greet friends following the service.

Thomas was born August 21, 1931 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, son of the late Cecil Simpson and Aileen Morris Simpson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during the Vietnam War, and retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was member of the Sertoma Club, and enjoyed bowling and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna Mae Heetderks Simpson; his sons, Thomas Simpson, Jr. and his wife, Beverly of Rock Hill, SC, Duane Simpson and his wife, Donna of Mooresville, NC, and Randall Simpson and his wife, Carol of Swansboro, NC; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Ryan, Parker, Grant, and Hunter Simpson; and his brother, Jerome Simpson and his wife, Doris of Sarasota, FL.
