Lt. Col. Lacy Alexander Allen, USAF (Ret)

 

Lacy Alexander Allen, USAF (Ret.), 86, of Summerville, South Carolina, husband of 63 years to Iris Graves Allen, entered into eternal rest Friday, June 30, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 3, 2023 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment following will be at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

Lacy was born May 5, 1937 in Waycross, Georgia, son of the late Lacy Jones Allen and Nell Maddux Allen.  Lacy graduated from Waycross High School in 1955.  He is a graduate of The Citadel class of 1959 and received his Master’s Degree from Georgia College.  Lt Col Allen retired after 28 years of service in the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, an honor awarded for distinctive heroism and extraordinary achievement while in aerial flight.  Iris and Lacy were high school sweethearts.  He was a member of Coastal Shores Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon of the church.  

He is survived by his four daughters, Brenda Bigham,  Rebecca Jewell, Beth Cole (Jeff) and Betty Jean (BJ) Allen all of Summerville; brother, Charles Allen of New York and  sister, Linda Brambila (Bob) of Biloxi, MS; seven grandchildren: Michelle Iris Clement, Nicholas John Clement, Preston Allen Cole, Bridget Ione Bigham, Lacy Evan Bigham, Travis Allen Merritt, Joshua Alexander Merritt and six great grandchildren, Ayden Lanbert, Elijah Allen Cole, Camden Andrew Cole, Sloan Lennon Leslie, Waylon Leslie Merritt and Elloree Iris Merritt 

In lieu of flowers offerings may be made to Coastal Shores Baptist Church Missions, 8310 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, SC 29418.
