Lt. Col. Gordon Edward Fisher, Sr., USAF, Ret., 93, of North Charleston, SC, succumbed after a long battle with cancer, Wednesday, June 29, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 9:30 am. Interment with military honors at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, July 1, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road.
Gordon was born July 8, 1922 in Little Rock, AR, son of the late James Ralph Fisher and the late Mattie Thompson Fisher. He graduated from San Pedro High School in CA and flight school in Stockton, CA. He was a pilot in the Air Force, served during WWII and Korea and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Gordon was a member of the Sgt. Pilot Association, Air Force Association and VFW in Goose Creek. He was a Lutheran by faith and donated to numerous charities, his favorite being Lakota Indian School.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta Louise Fisher of North Charleston, SC; sons: Robert Douglas Fisher (Sarah) of Gilbert, SC, Karl Justin Fisher (Jeanie) of Whittakers, NC, James R. Fisher (Stephanie) of Goose Creek, SC, Michael Jones (Deborah) of North Charleston, SC and Kenneth Jones (Claire) of Cross, SC; daughter, Katherine Naccari (Joseph) of North Charleston, SC; grandchildren: David, Tyler, Victoria, Tiffany, Brittany, Kerry, Chelsea, Christine, Devon, Darren, Douglas, Kevin, Desiree and Justin; 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Gordon Edward Fisher, Jr., daughter, Carol Louise Fisher, sisters, Carrie Evelyn Anderson and Mary Dudley; and brother, James Fisher.
