Louis M. Denaux, III

Louis Milton Denaux III, ladies' man, sharp dresser and card shark, died on Friday, March 15, 2024 surrounded by family, following a battle with cancer.

Known by almost everyone as “Squeeky,” he was small in stature but had a personality that was larger than life. Born in Charleston, Squeeky was a graduate of Chicora High School and had a 45-year career with Labcorp. Though most may recall his beaming smile or gregarious, red-faced laugh, it is his big heart and generous spirit for which he’ll be remembered.

The women in Squeeky’s life were numerous. He loved his mom Jacqueline Tucker LaRue (deceased), who made the only food he truly loved and taught him everything he knew about playing cards. He adored his daughter, Mandy Denaux of Los Angeles, and would proudly brag about her accomplishments to anyone who would listen. And no one could hold a candle to his sister, Jerri LaRue Ducker of Hanahan. Additionally, Squeeky took four walks down the aisle, and while each of those marriages would end in divorce, his ex-wives: Susand Head Denaux of Summerville, Pam Harmon Smith of North Charleston, Helen Chandler Denaux of Cantonment, Florida and Melanie Denaux of Lexington, Kentucky all loved Squeeky until the very end, and he them!

A lover of Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke, Michael Jackson, Las Vegas, cruises and Cracker Barrel’s chicken and dumplings, Squeeky had a fierce moonwalk, loved to play pool and could hold his own with the best when it came to playing cards (it wasn’t even gambling when he played because he was that good).

Squeeky was meticulous with his appearance. His clothes were always pressed (even a crease in the jeans long after that stopped being acceptable), his G.H. Bass Weejun loafers always shined and the few hairs he had left on his head were always in place.

Squeeky was preceded in death by his father, Louis Milton Denaux, Jr., better known as Squawky (no, we’re not kidding), of Charleston; and his mother, Jacqueline Tucker LaRue of Goose Creek. He is survived by his stepfather, Thomas LaRue of Tybee Island, Georgia; his stepmother Barbara LaRue of Tybee Island, Georgia; his daughter, Mandy Denaux of Los Angeles; his stepson, Will Perreyclear of Cantonment, Florida; his brother, Gary Denaux, better known as Sparky (you see, good things do come in threes), of Moncks Corner; his sister, Jerri LaRue Ducker of Hanahan; his half-brother Darrell Denaux of Johns Island.
Without a doubt, Squeeky lived a full life (see aforementioned wives); but it was a life cut short by prostate cancer; so men - please go get checked!

Squeeky refused to attend funerals (he was a crier), and always loved a party, so that’s just what his family plans to do for his celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, Squeeky would want you to instead do something unexpected and unsolicited for someone in need in his name.
