Louiel Carlisle Gibson, Jr.

Louiel Carlisle Gibson, Jr., 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Connie Gibson, entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 25, 2024. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 29, 2024 in Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 1605 Harbor View Road at 12:30 pm.  Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel. 

Louiel was born July 18, 1933 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Louiel Carlisle Gibson, Sr. and Clara Grooms Gibson.  He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service (1951-1971), including two tours in the Vietnam War, and then worked 20 years of civil service with the U.S. Navy (Southern Naval Facility Engineering Command). His love of family and friends, doing yardwork, traveling, cruises, and watching Atlanta Braves and USC Gamecock games was his enjoyment in his retirement.

Along with his wife of 39 years, Connie Gibson, he is survived by his two daughters, Nikki Mezzell, Kelley Kraft (Jay); grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Samuel, Sarah, Aubrey, and Carsen; great-grandson, Jameson; many loved nieces and nephews; and best friend, Robert Bridges.

Louiel was predeceased by his sister, Betty Caddell.
