Lora Lee Hartenberger, 91, of Charleston, unexpectedly passed away on April 11, 2018. Lee was a faithful follower of Christ and made her church home, until she was unable to attend, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.
Lee was the daughter of Lura Violet and Otis John Space, who raised her in Hutchinson, Kansas. She married the love of her life, Royal Austin Hartenberger (Deceased) on October 27, 1944. Together, while Roy worked for Phillip's Petroleum, they raised two children while doodle-bugging around the southwest searching for oil. This little Kansas girl learned how to live in Madrid, Spain when they were stationed there for a year. Her husband's job then took them to Alexandria, VA where she became actively involved for over three decades with Chapter J of PEO. She loved her cat Frisky, and the feral cats she fed on the sly in her neighborhood. She was full of joy and loved being with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Laura (Sam) Hines and Cheryl Hartenberger; her granddaughters Shannon Goscha and Katey (Al) Hines-McCormack; her grandson, James Robert McColl; her great-grandchildren, Brooke Brewer, Blake Zortman, Samuel McCormack and Robert McColl; and, her great-great grandson, Elijiah Cay Zortman. She leaves a very large void in the lives of those who loved her and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
Funeral Arrangements will be made by J. Henry Stuhr. Funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church at 712 Wappoo Road on Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the Church from 10:00 a.m until the time of the service. A private interment will take place on Sunday at Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
