Entered into eternal rest on the evening of Saturday, September 17, 2011, Lona Jackson McKelvey, known as Nana to all those who loved her, widow of Jennings C. McKelvey, Sr. Residence, James Island, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at 11 a.m. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Stuhr's Downtown Chapel Monday, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Lona was born on July 29, 1929 in Holly Hill, SC, the daughter of Herbert Hugo Jackson and Hattie Rebecca Wiggins Jackson. Lona was a retired public schools cafeteria manager and member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her son: Gregory (Amy) McKelvey of James Island, SC; her daughter: Cynthia Ann Kline of North Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Brandy Cordell of Aiken, SC, Gregory McKelvey, Jr. of James Island, SC, Kyle Kline of Aiken, SC, and Gracie Kline of TN; great grandchildren: Brandon Cordell, Caleb Cordell and Rebecca Cordell, all of Aiken, SC; and sisters: Idell Moore of Central, SC and Lyta Bilton of Eutawville, SC.
