Lois Klein, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on January 7, 1943, Lois dedicated her life to caring for others through her professional work and personal relationships. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1963 and began her career as a registered nurse in psychiatry. Later, she earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Delaware in 1982 and went on to serve as a flight attendant with United Airlines.

A devoted family woman, Lois found her greatest joy in her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Juliann Higgins Jensen of Portland, Oregon, and Jonathan Eric Higgins (Laura) of Melbourne Beach, Florida; her grandchildren, Maya Elizabeth Higgins, Max Lazarus Gardenswartz, and Oliver James Jensen; her step-grandchildren, Steven Santillan and Tyler Dylan Shelton; her sister, Mary Lynne Good (Blair); her son-in-law, Will Gardenswartz (Jenny); and many beloved nieces and nephews including April Lynne Leavor (Christopher), Kyra Caneel Christensen (Blair), Kristin Monica Wilson-Klein, Dakota Rayne Leavor and Blair Daniel Christensen.

Lois was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Higgins Gardenswartz; her parents, Herman John Klein and Elizabeth Lee Poznar Klein; her brother, Gerard Joseph Klein; her step-granddaughter, Cameron Brooke Shelton; and her ex-son-in-law, Paul Gustave Jensen.

Known for her spirited personality and deep faith, Lois loved photography (especially capturing nature and children), sewing, dancing, beach walks, flowers, birds, and spending time with young ones. She volunteered with great enthusiasm at the Nature Center in Wilmington, Delaware, East Cooper Community Outreach, East Cooper Medical Center, and the Isle of Palms Turtle Team. A longtime resident of the Isle of Palms, she cherished her friendships there and was a faithful member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, where she nurtured a strong love for Jesus.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Benedict Catholic Church at 950 Darrell Creek Trail, Mount Pleasant, SC 29466 on March 5, 2026, at 11:00 am. Luncheon will follow.

Interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens at 1308 Mathis Ferry Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 on March 5, 2026, at 1:30 pm.
