Lois Jean Roche Blackmon

On Thursday, April 5, 2018, Lois Jean Roche Blackmon passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Lois Jean was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 25, 1934 to Lois and Francis Roche. She grew up in Saranac Lake, NY where she graduated from high school. She served in the Air Force where she met her husband Waylon O. Blackmon who preceded her in death in April 2015. Mrs. Blackmon retired from the Mecklenburg County Health Department, Charlotte, NC.

She is survived by her son Christopher Blackmon (Genevieve Rupley) of Suwanee, Georgia, daughter Jennifer Sprott (Morgan) of Mt. Pleasant, and two granddaughters Elliott and Emerson Sprott of Mt. Pleasant. She is also survived by her sister Lorraine Smith of Ballston Spa, NY and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Waylon Blackmon, and her sister Dolores Cromie.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Tuesday, in Stuhr's Mt. Pleasant Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
