Lois Crosby Brinson

September 18, 1921 — December 2, 2010

Lois Evelyn Crosby Brinson of Hanahan died December 2, 2010 at Brunswick, Georgia, following a sudden illness.


She was the widow of James Ernest Brinson, Jr.  Mrs. Brinson was born Sept. 18, 1921 at Savannah, Ga., the daughter of the late Edward Benjamin Crosby and Ethel Caldwell Crosby. She spent most of her childhood years in Walterboro and moved to Charleston in 1939.


In 1987, she retired as a school food service manager, having served in North Charleston and Hanahan schools.


Mrs. Brinson was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter in North Charleston and the Park Circle senior citizens fitness programs. She enjoyed her wonderful neighbors and her circle of friends. She especially loved her Holmes Avenue Baptist Church in North Charleston where her membership spanned 60 years.


In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Lois Annette Brinson Ford, her sister Marjorie C. Scheloske, and her brother, Millard Crosby.


She is survived by her sons, J. Ron Brinson and his wife, Peggy, and William E. "Bill" Brinson and his wife, Linda, of North Charleston, and her daughter Barbara Gail Brinson Brunjes and her husband, David, of Brunswick, Ga.; 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, her sister Bernice C. Williamson and her husband Danny of Goose Creek, her brother, Thomas E. Crosby and his wife Bernice of North Charleston, and many nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., December 7, 2010 at Holmes Avenue Baptist Church, 4602 Durant Avenue, North Charleston. Visitation at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., December 6, 2010. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
