Lizetta Richards Halter

Lizetta Richards Halter, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Herman Wagner Halter, entered into eternal rest Thursday, October 27, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in Bethany United Methodist Church, 1853 Maybank Hwy., James Island, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 30, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street.

Lizetta was born July 27, 1926 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Gustave Patrick Richards, MD and Lizetta Wagener Richards. She was a retired treasurer for H.W. Halter and Sons, Inc. She was a member of Rebecca Motte Chapter NSDAR, the Colonial Dames of Seventeenth Century, and Bethany United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her two sons: Henry B. Halter and Jeffrey R. Halter, both of James Island; three daughters: Kathleen H. Bryer (Paul) of Johns Island, Cynthia H. O'Brien (John) of Greensboro, NC, and Julia H. Altman (Derrall) of Walterboro; twelve grandchildren: T.J. Halter (Terri), Craig Halter, Francie H. Cashman (Joe), John Halter (Megan), Paige H. Singh (Kesh), Eddie Bates (Bethany), David Bates (Lori), Tamara Bates, John O'Brien, Jr., Elizabeth O'Brien, Angela Baker (Chris), and Bradley Altman (Stephanie); 14 great-grandchildren: daughter-in-law, Anne Platts Halter; and sister, Margaret R. Breeden. She was predeceased by her son, Herman W. Halter, Jr.; grandson, Chadwick R. Altman; brother, Frederick Richards, MD; and sister, Patricia R. Beckman.
