Linda T. Ripinsky, 71, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, died Thursday, December 22, 2016. Her family will hold a private funeral service in France. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Linda was born August 23, 1945, one of two daughters of the late Joseph Ripinsky and the late Mollie Rubinoff Ripinsky Kronenberg. She grew up in New York and Connecticut before moving to Seabrook Island and then to Mount Pleasant. Linda held her B.A. degree from Brooklyn College, a M.A. in library science from Simmons College, and her M.B.A from Stern Business College at NYU.
She was a long time tutor at Mt. Zion Elementary, Frierson Elementary, and Mitchell Elementary and volunteered with Wings for Kids. Linda was on the school improvement council of Mt. Zion Elementary and St. John's High School and on the board of Yo Art! Inc and The Charleston Friends of the Library.
She is survived by her sister, Harriet Ripinsky of Mount Pleasant, SC, and their dog, Sadie; her nephew and niece, Franklin and Paige Wagman; great nephew, Tyler Wagman; as well as her cousins, Mitchell, Arnold, Craig, Jenna, Sam, Lee, and Sirena Rubinoff.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harriet and Linda Ripinsky fund of the Coastal Community Foundation, 635 Rutledge Ave., Charleston, SC 29403 to help with outreach in technology and the arts at Title 1 schools on Johns Island and Wadmalaw.
