Linda Hopkins, 75, of Roanoke, Virginia, and Isle of Palms, South Carolina, peacefully gained her angel wings on February 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving children, Natalie, Sara, and Miles, as well as the love of her life, Joseph Hopkins. Born on December 8, 1949, in Danville, Virginia, Linda was the daughter of the late Fay and Kennon Wells.
Linda graduated from Radford University with an undergraduate degree in Education and a Master’s degree in School Counseling, which led her to a fulfilling career in education. Her passion for helping and guiding others was evident in every aspect of her life, and she was a beloved figure in the schools where she worked.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert “Bob” Kennon Wells Jr. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe, and their three children, Natalie Cullison (Michael), Sara Holstein (Matt), and Miles Hopkins (Erin). Linda’s eight grandchildren-Abby (18), Samantha (16), Grayson (12), Bailey (10), Sam (9), Quinn (11), Riley (11), and Tess (9)-were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Linda is also survived by her brother, John David Wells (Kitty), and her sister, Jill Wells Nunnally (Ward), along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her career in education, Linda’s greatest joy was her family. She and Joe shared many adventures, traveling the world together and creating memories that will last forever. Her vibrant energy and kind spirit made her a friend to all, and she never met a stranger. Her love for life and her infectious enthusiasm, especially when cheering on the Virginia Tech Hokies, were just some of the many ways she touched those around her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 19th, 2025, in Roanoke, Virginia, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember Linda’s extraordinary life.
In memory of Linda, family requests donations be made to Respite Care Charleston or Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Virginia.
Linda will forever be remembered for her love, kindness, and the joy she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
The Hopkins Family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Mount Pleasant Gardens, Motherly Love Homecare, Lutheran Hospice, and J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mt. Pleasant Chapel, for their outstanding dedication and unwavering support. Your care and commitment have made a meaningful impact, and we are truly thankful.
