Linda Strickland DeLoache, 71, wife of Lt. Col. Kelly L. DeLoache, USAF (Ret) of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on July 4, 2012. The relatives and friends of Linda DeLoache are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Friday, July 6, 2012 in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the Mount Pleasant Chapel from 1:00 pm until time of the service.
Linda was born on August 12, 1940 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Thomas J. Strickland and Dolores Whittle Strickland. Linda was a gentle person who enjoyed reading, when she could, and sewing for her granddaughters. As an Air Force wife, Linda traveled with her husband in the early days of the Space Program and had lived in Cape Canaveral as well as California, before moving back to Mt. Pleasant. She graduated from Ashley Hall School and recently enjoyed having monthly lunch dates with several of her former classmates. Linda worked many years for the Charleston Parks and Recreation Department and the Citadel Alumni Office.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lt. Col. Kelly L. DeLoache, USAF (Ret); two daughters, Lori Baney of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Elizabeth D. Townsend and her husband, Wade of Florence, SC; one son, Mark T. DeLoache of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, H. Allen Strickland, M.D. of Westerly, RI and by her extended family. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Thomas J. Strickland, Jr.
