Lillian Wilson Toler, 92, of Mt. Pleasant, entered into eternal rest, September 6, 2017 while living at Franke at Seaside. She was the wife of the late Walter D. Toler for 64 years. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 13 at 11 a.m. at The Rodenberg Chapel, Franke at Seaside, 1885 Rifle Range Road by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. There will be a visitation in the Vestibule for one hour before the service. Interment will be private.
She is the daughter of the late Clyde Lawrence Wilson and Florence Eugenia Mills Wilson. She was born on July 1, 1925 in Florence South Carolina. She went to elementary school in Florence S.C. and then moved to Awendaw, S.C. where she graduated from McCelllanville High School. Before getting married, she worked for the Charleston Naval Shipyard doing clerical work in the Machine Test Section. She and Walter were married in September 1945. They opened Mt. Pleasant Seafood in 1946. She made Mt. Pleasant her home for 71 years.
She was a charter member of Hibben United Methodist Church. She was active in the Joy Circle at Hibben Methodist Church. She was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service where she served as Secretary. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Troop #25, for the first Girl Scout Troop in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Board of Education and served as a Teacher Procurement Officer. Also, she was a member of the East Cooper Republican Women's Club. She was most happy working in her yard which she kept up by herself until she was 82. She also maintained an immaculate home and enjoyed traveling with her husband Walter and their grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters, Peggy Fitch (Rial) of Mt. Pleasant, Judy Sturgis of Charleston, SC, Donna Mizell (Stan) of Mt. Pleasant and Nita Toler of Charleston. She had 6 grandchildren; Chip Sturgis (Karena), Allison Eidson (Lance), Kate Mizell, Sarah Fitch, Stephen Fitch (Liz), Starr Toler and three great grandchildren; Chatham, Walker and Logan.
She was predeceased by her parents, Clyde L. Wilson and Florence Eugenia Mills Wilson, sister Florence Eugenia Wilson, 5 brothers, Clyde Lawrence Wilson, George Bryce Wilson, Henry Mills Wilson, Aaron Alvin Wilson, Barry Jackson Wilson, and one grandchild, Jessica Lauren Fitch and son-in-law Buddy Sturgis.
The family would like to express appreciation for the care she received from many wonderful care givers, nurses an staff while living at The Cove Independent Living, Assisted Living on Colonial Court, and last at the Keil Skilled Nursing Facility.
