Entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 16, 2011, Lillian B. Murphy, widow of James B. Murphy, Sr. Funeral services for Lillian will be held in J. HENRY STUHR WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 1:00PM. Entombment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.
Born September 20, 1922 in Charleston, South Carolina, Lillian was the daughter of the Alfred J. Bryant and Mittie Varner Bryant. She was cashier at a local grocery store and cooked for the families at the Ronald McDonald House. Mrs. Murphy also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Soup Kitchen.
Survivors include a son: James B. Murphy and girl friend Lynn Carney of Charleston; grandchildren: Donald Edward Vaughn, Jr. of Summerville and Deanna Vaughn Bailey of Columbia; great grandchildren: Logan Bailey of Columbia, Abigail, Molly and Zachary Vaughn all of Summerville; a sister: Ruth Gibbs of Westfield, Ma and a brother: Ted Bryant of Charleston. Her daughter Deborah M. Vaughn preceded Mrs. Murphy in death.
