Lillian Rebecca Gaskin Gale, 85, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of the late Dr. Glen Roy Gale, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 3, 2015. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment, Holy Cross Cemetery.
Lillian was born September 28, 1930 in Wadesboro, NC, daughter of the late Dr. John Stover Gaskin and the late Dr. Madge Baker Gaskin of Albemarle, NC. Lillian was a graduate of Duke University, and a faithful fan of Duke Basketball. In her professional life, she spent many years teaching Biology at Fort Johnson High School. Lillian, like her mother, enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Lawton Bluff Garden Club for many years. She was also a pianist, and encouraged all of her children to study music.
She is survived by her four children, Alan Oliver Gale (Jamie), Larry Baker Gale (Peggy), Elizabeth "Beth" Ann Heywood (Dave), and Virginia "Ginny" Lynn Waldis (Dan); four grandchildren, Richard Dodd Heywood (Liz), Jonathan Glen Heywood, Katherine Waldis and Philip Waldis; her sister, Dorothy Gaskin Sloan of High Point, NC; sister-in-law, Virginia Helms Gaskin of Greensboro, NC; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. John Stover Gaskin, Jr. and Dr. Joe Harvey Gaskin.
