Libby Soffar

Libby Solomon Soffar, 89, of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 9, 2015. Her funeral service will be held graveside Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Emanu-El Cemetery , Sycamore Avenue, Maryville at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Libby was born August 10, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Samuel Solomon and Sarah Solomon. She worked at The Jewish Community Center in Houston, Texas, the JCC in Charleston, Synagogue Emanu-El and most recently her very favorite job in the world was volunteering at CBRI, Roper St.Francis Hospital.

She is survived by her two daughters: Ellen Steinberg (Robert) of Charleston, SC and Cindy Jacobs (Dan) of Boston, MA; son, Adam Soffar (Naomi) of Houston, TX; brother, Morris Solomon of Long Island, NY; and six grandchildren: Matthew Steinberg, Sarah Steinberg, Jonathan Soffar, Samuel Soffar, Sophie Jacobs, and Ilana Jacobs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Synagogue Emanu-El, 5 Windsor Drive, Charleston, SC 29407, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation, 300 West Coleman Boulevard, Suite 206, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
