MSgt. Lewis Ray Opal, USAF, (Ret), 81, of North Charleston, SC, died Wednesday, September 4, 2013. A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, September 8, 2013 in the Wood Memorial Park, 863 Gap Creek Road, Duncan, SC at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, Saturday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Lewis was born January 21, 1932 in Sheridan, Wyoming, son of the late Mildred McClennan Opal and the late Lewis Opal. He was a retired Master Sergeant having served 22 years in the USAF and was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. Following retirement from the Air Force his second career was at the Charleston Naval Shipyard.

He is survived by his daughter, Frances Thomason and her husband, David of North Charleston, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife Vearlene Black Opal.
