Leslye Fleniken Newton, 66, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away at home on Saturday, February 29, 2020 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. A celebration of her life will be planned for a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
A native of Lake City, South Carolina, she is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Randall and Leslye Lightsey Fleniken.
She is survived by Paul Consolo; a brother, Lewis Randall Fleniken, Jr. (Paula) of Columbia, SC; a twin sister, Louisa Fleniken Neel (Jim) of Wichita, KS; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Leslye graduated from the University of South Carolina and received her Masters Degree in Education from The Citadel. She was a beloved early childhood teacher at Menriv Park and Marrington Elementary schools in Goose Creek (Naval Weapons Station) for 33 years. She will certainly be remembered, among other things, for her gentle, giving nature.
